NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) — Eight residents in the rehabilitation unit of a New Westminster care home have tested positive for COVID-19.
Fraser Health declared an outbreak at this unit of the Queen’s Park Care Centre Thursday. This comes as the outbreak at the adjoining long-term-care unit at the same facility was declared over.
“This outbreak is limited to the rehabilitation unit, which is temporarily closed to admissions,” reads a release from the health authority.
“At this time, it does not appear that the cases in the long term care unit and the rehabilitation unit are connected, and the units operate separately.”
Patients and families have been notified, and contact-tracing is underway.
