RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) — A pedestrian has died after she was struck by a vehicle in Richmond Saturday afternoon.

Constable Kenneth Lau with Richmond RCMP says the crash happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. at a marked crosswalk where the woman was crossing the street.

The woman was hit at the intersection of Number 2 and Andrews roads. While she was rushed to the hospital she did die from her injuries.

The driver remained on scene and the investigation is ongoing. Mounties say drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as factors.

“There are other factors that could be involved in investing in the collision and that part is still under investigation at this point,” Lau tells NEWS 1130.

Mounties in Richmond are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call 604-278-1212.
