KAMLOOPS (NEWS 1130) — Sun Peaks mountain resort is the latest in the province to report multiple COVID-19 cases in the community.

A statement from the hotel says four staff members at the resort tested positive for COVID-19.

“All cases are related to social interactions outside the workplace and no guests have been impacted at this time. The 4 cases and associated close contacts are currently in self-isolation,” the statement reads.

A letter sent to residents from the mountain resort’s medical director says the cases were confirmed over the Christmas break.

The mountain is calling for everyone to follow health guidelines to avoid an outbreak like the ongoing one at Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna.

“Outdoor recreation at Sun Peaks continues to be considered safe for anyone following public health direction such as physical distancing, wearing a face covering, and staying home when unwell,” the statement adds.
