The driver stayed at the scene, and police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
But Mounties describe this accident as very preventable.
“Drivers, please take extra care to anticipate any possible pedestrians, especially in the downtown core. Pedestrians, when at all possible, please use marked crosswalks, follow traffic signals, and take extra caution when you cross the road,” Constable Kenneth Lau says in a release.
They’re also reminding pedestrians to use marked crosswalks, follow traffic signals, and take extra caution when crossing the road.
