Fish boat with one on board missing off coast of Vancouver Island

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) — A search has been launched for an overdue vessel off the west coast of Vancouver Island.
The fish boat left Ahousaht, northwest of Tofino, Thursday afternoon and was supposed to arrive at Hot Springs Cove.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says after it failed to show up by the evening, crews began searching the waters and continue efforts Friday morning.

One person is on board. Crews have been so far unable to make contact with them.
Because of the weather, crews are unable to try to spot the vessel from the sky.
The west coast of Vancouver Island is under a rainfall warning, with up to 120 mm of rain forecast on Friday as well as strong southerly wind gusts to 90 km/h.
