Vancouver's Ryan Reynolds sends love to a Prince George boy with a medical mountain to climb

'I feel pretty special' was 11-year-old Brody's reaction after Ryan Reynolds sent him a personalized message

It took less than a day for the Deadpool star to respond to a B.C. boy

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver’s favourite actor is coming through for a Prince George boy getting cancer treatment far from home.

It all started Tuesday during some down time at Vancouver’s Ronald McDonald house, when they posted a video to Ryan Reynolds. Mom Randy Dery says she and 11-year-old Brody watch Reynolds’ movies to cheer up. She remembered when the Canucks visited during a stay two years ago — and Randy says Brody was unimpressed.

“Brody looked at the nurse and he kind of looked at me and goes, ‘Mom, but what about Deadpool? When’s Deadpool coming?” she said. “He was excited about the Canucks but also disappointed because he loves Deadpool.”

Wednesday morning, less than a day after posting their video, Reynolds came through.

“[I wanted to] let you know that I am thinking about you, that I’m sending you tons of love. And I’m sending you strength — whatever strength I’ve got,” Reynolds told the young fan in his response.

“I know you’ve been going through it. I know it’s been a challenge lately. But you know something, Brody? You are just the person for the job. So I am sending you lots of love. I hope I get to meet you in person one of these days. Hang in there. Okay pal, bye.”

Randy says the message from the actor is really something.

“It’s pretty neat, to think that somebody that is that famous — that is known worldwide — took the time out of his day just to say hi to Brody. Brody said to me, after he watched the video, ‘I feel pretty special.'”
