Petition pushes for Jeopardy! studio to be renamed after Alex Trebek

LOS ANGELES (NEWS 1130) — Thousands of Jeopardy! fans are signing a petition to have the show’s studio named in the memory of longtime host, Alex Trebek.

The change.org petition is addressed to Jeopardy Productions Incorporated, Sony Pictures Studios, and CBS to have “Alex remembered forever.”

“He was seen by millions of fans over 37 years and his legacy will live on forever. Godspeed, Alex Trebek. We love you, then, now and forever,” the petition author writes. “Having Stage 10 dedicated to him would be the ultimate posthumous honour.”

Part of the petition suggests calling it “The Alex Trebek Memorial Stage at Sony Pictures Studios.”

Trebek passed away in November at the age of 80 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

He had hosted the popular game show since 1984, recording more than 8,000 episodes in the studio people hope will bear his name.

The final episode of Jeopardy! with Trebek as host aired Jan. 8. The show will continue with a series of interim hosts, starting with veteran Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings.

Studio executives haven’t responded to the petition yet, which, as of Monday afternoon, had nearly 15,000 signatures.
