Three skiers rescued off Mount Arrowsmith on Vancouver Island

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Three skiers had to be rescued off Mount Arrowsmith on Vancouver Island early Monday after one of them got hurt.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria was called around 4 p.m. Sunday to help with the extraction of the injured skier as well as two other people.

A helicopter and search plane, the Cormorant Buffalo, were tasked with finding the skiers while search and rescue teams worked on foot.

Crews were able to get the skiers out of the popular mid-Island backcountry area by 12:30 a.m. Monday.

It’s unclear how seriously hurt the skier is.
