CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) — A school in Chilliwack has voluntarily closed after a cluster of COVID-19 cases were identified.

According to Fraser Health, seven cases have been identified at Cascade Christian School. The health authority has not ordered the closure, rather the school has decided to shut its doors until Feb. 5 out of an abundance of caution.

“In a school environment, if a student or teacher receives a confirmed positive COVID-19 test result, Fraser Health Public Health follows a rigorous protocol,” reads an email from the health authority.

“Contact tracing is initiated to determine how the individual was infected and who they were in close contact with in order to advise for self-monitoring or isolation. Public Health staff works closely with the school throughout the case and contact management process to maintain close communication with the school community.”
