CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) — A guitar stolen from beloved local band 54-40 three years ago was found by police in Surrey last week, along with a “cache” of guns, credit cards, and electronic scooters.
About $70,000 worth of stolen property was found on Jan. 19 after police in Chilliwack tracked thieves involved in two recent break-ins to a Surrey apartment.
“Officers seized electronics, jewellery, luggage, key fobs, clothing, and accessories reported stolen in the Jan. 15 break and enter, together with insurance documents, credit cards, firearms with ammunition, personal documents, and electric scooters reported stolen,” according to a statement from Cpl. Mike Rail.
“We understand the importance of every item to the owners, however, a guitar seized during the execution of the search warrant provided an unexpected surprise.”

The recovered guitar is one of seven that were stolen from a van in New Westminster in October of 2018, with five recovered just days later.
Two people have been arrested, and a report will be sent to Crown Counsel recommending charges once the investigation is complete.
