Fire at New Westminster strip mall guts several businesses

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – Fire crews in New Westminster and Burnaby had to team up overnight to battle a fire along their border.
Despite the efforts of firefighters, several businesses in the strip mall on 12th Street near 10th Avenue have been gutted.

Witnesses who called NEWS 1130 say they heard an explosion around 1 a.m., just before they saw the flames.
Crews were on scene for most of the morning.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
