Saanich Police chasing leads with FBI in Lindsay Buziak murder

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Investigators with Saanich Police say they are chasing new leads in the 2008 unsolved murder of 24-year-old Lindsay Buziak.

Cst. Markus Anastasiades said in a release Sunday, a new investigative team containing members of the FBI has been created to examine “all possible suspects.”

“We have established a task force comprised of new investigators who are taking a fresh look at the case. The task force has obtained assistance from the FBI and continued support from the RCMP. Both agencies have provided valuable assistance in the development of new leads.”

Anastasiades also points to advancements in forensic tech which have opened up new leads to pursue.

“Investigators are reviewing and re-testing evidence including items from the crime scene as well as digital evidence. Advancements in fields such as genealogy as well as DNA analysis has led to the resolution in many other cases.”

Buziak was working as a realtor, showing a house in Saanich when she was murdered in 2008.

In the video posted to YouTube, Anastasiades is also asking people who have yet to speak to police to come forward.

“It is sometimes the case that may have knowledge initially do not come forward due to their close relationships with those who may have been involved. We recognize that relationships change over time as well as people and their perspectives. It is not  too late to come forward,” Anastasiades says.
