Chilliwack mother missing for days as family, friends plead for information

CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) — A 23-year-old Chilliwack mother hasn’t been seen since Saturday, leaving her friends and family desperate for answers.

On Tuesday afternoon, Shaelene Keeler Bell’s loved ones gathered to plead for tips from the public.

“I went to high school with her, I graduated with her,” a friend tearfully said. “I know a lot of people are worried so I hope she just comes home safe.”

Bell is a mother of two young boys and was last seen Saturday night leaving her apartment on Edward Street.

On Monday, her vehicle, a 2021 Hyundai Tucson, was found abandoned.

Her mother, Alina Durham, says the disappearance is highly unusual and is worried for her daughter’s safety.

“Shaelene’s boys mean everything to her. Anyone who knows my daughter knows she would never leave her boys,” she said. “Her boys are her whole life. It’s so out of character for her.”

“She has two little boys so we need her to come home, we need to find her. She is loved. Very much,” Durham added. “She is my everything, my everything. Live, breathe, eat, my daughter.”

Durham said the search for Bell has been a vast one so far, with crews scouring air and water.

“RCMP had search and rescue out, my understanding is that they’ve moved it up to the investigative team and they tried to get a helicopter out yesterday but the weather did not permit,” she explained. “They were out on the water, they’ve checked all along and they didn’t get anything. They wanted to get a diving team out and they weren’t able to do that at this point. We’re just going to stay hopeful.”

Bell’s tearful cousin, Melanie Millin, also appealed for information.

“Shae, if you are out there please come home, your boys need you so much. This is not like Shaelene. She would never leave her boys voluntarily. She is a beautiful, caring person. She’s always doing things for other people, but mainly for her children,” Millin said.

Friend Taylor Leger said Bell’s children were everything to her.

“Her two boys are her absolute world, she would never leave them behind,” she said. “They need her. We need to find her, she’s such a beautiful person. If you see something online, share it and keep your eyes open. Let’s bring her home to her mom and her two boys.”

Bell is 5’2” tall, weighs around 95 lbs., and has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
