Most Canadians feeling stress, anxiety, depression due to pandemic: poll

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – More figures are coming out, revealing the pandemic’s devastating impact on mental health.

Seventy-six per cent of people responding to the online Angus Reid poll for the United Way say the pandemic has caused stress, anxiety, or depression.

Some of that stress is financial, with 19 per cent saying they were unable to pay at least one of their bills since the pandemic started. Most said they didn’t have any trouble with that before it hit.

The survey was done to mark United Way’s first 211 Day to raise awareness of the free service connecting people to government, community and social services.

United Way says the confidential service is available 24 hours a day in most of Canada and available in more than 150 languages.
