Delta police say people in vehicles shot at each other in a residential neighbourhood Sunday

No one was hurt and police believe it was a targeted incident

Police say the people in the vehicles seemed to have been 'passing through' and aren't connected to Delta

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – People in two vehicles shot at each other Sunday in a residential neighbourhood in what Delta police are calling a targeted incident.

It happened around 5 p.m. on Delvista Drive, according to a statement from the Delta Police Department.

“The incident appears to be targeted,” says Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta police. “While fortunately no injuries have been reported to police, this type of violence is completely unacceptable. Innocent people could have been hurt.”

Nothing is connecting the vehicles or the people in them to Delta at this time, with police saying “They appear to have been passing through.”

A nearby house was believed to have been hit during the exchange, but police determined that wasn’t the case.

A burned vehicle found in Langley was seized because it is believed to be connected to the shooting.

Police had been collecting evidence overnight, including shell casings, and the investigation is ongoing.
