WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) – It’s not the best weekend to take the snowmobile into the backcountry.
Simon Horton with Avalanche Canada says a storm is on the way to places like Whistler.
“Already … in a lot of areas, we’re at considerable avalanche danger. Human-triggered avalanches are likely,” he said, adding with the incoming storm, it will get worse.

“It’s expected to bring lots of snow, wind, warm temperatures — and even some rain, lower down. And the storm is looking to hit all regions in the southwest coast,” he added.
Horton says the forecast is the same for much of B.C., including mountains along the Coquihalla.
He says the avalanche risk is likely to be high on Sunday.
