Surrey RCMP break up dial-a-dope operation, arrest two teens

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — A pair of 16-year-old boys have been arrested after police in Surrey busted a suspected dial-a-dope operation.

According to Mounties, police have been investigating suspected drug trafficking activity at an underground parkade near 108 Ave and University Drive — near the Gateway SkyTrain station — since early February.

The investigation eventually lead them to execute a search warrant at a condo in Whalley.

“On February 25, 2021, a search warrant was executed at the condominium, leading to the discovery of a multi-ounce drug cache, and packaging site,” a release from the RCMP reads.

Inside, police found quantities of suspected powder cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA, a loaded handgun, a loaded pistol grip shotgun that was seized along with $11,000 in cash.

The boys are not connected to any known gangs and both have been released from custody as the investigation continues.

“It is concerning to see youth involved in drug trafficking,” Sgt. Glenn Leeson, says. “Not only are they putting community members at risk by trafficking potentially lethal drugs, but they are also putting themselves in danger.”
