NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – A woman is in the hospital in critical condition after an assault at a New Westminster home this week.
Police say they were called to an address on Princess Street near 2nd Street around 1 p.m. Tuesday. As a precaution, École Herbert Spencer Elementary was temporarily locked down.

Later that afternoon, New Westminster police say a man was arrested with the help of Vancouver officers.
It’s believed the 42-year-old suspect and the victim know each other. Police have provided few other details about the victim.
Andywele Mullings has been charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Assault with a Weapon. The circumstances leading up to the assault are still unclear.
Investigators are now looking to speak with anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area early Tuesday afternoon.
“Any small piece of information could assist us as we piece everything together,” said Sergeant Sanjay Kumar.
