SURREY (NEWS 1130) — An itsy bitsy spider inadvertently prompted a police investigation in Surrey Saturday.
Surrey RCMP received multiple calls about a “woman in distress” in an SUV around 4:30 p.m. According to police, the woman opened the door while the vehicle was moving, and cried out for help.
When officers found the vehicle, the couple inside explained what happened.
“This incident was in fact, caused by a spider. The spider made a surprise appearance in the car causing a bit of a scramble,” says Const. Elenore Sturko, adding the woman opened the door to “shoo” the spider out.
“Needless to say, neither of these people had intended to cause any alarm to the public.”
