Six guests were given $230 fines for attending the party

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Two people were arrested at a condo in Downtown Vancouver Saturday for violating health orders after hosting a party where six others were fined.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, there had been 10 complaints about noises and parties in the condo near Burrard and Alberni streets. Sgt. Steve Addison explains a search warrant was obtained after “unsuccessful efforts to convince these hosts to stop having parties.”

Manjinder Sagoo, 37, has been charged with three counts of failing to comply with an order of the health officer. Sanad Rayes, 35, has also been charged with two counts of the same charge.

“Our officers will continue to make every effort to speak with violators, to remind them of the rules, and to convince them to obey the health order,” says Addison. “But, when someone flagrantly ignores the law and puts others at risk of contracting COVID, we will use our legal powers to hold them accountable.”

Six guests were fined $230 each for being at the gathering.

Social gatherings inside homes, regardless of the size, are banned under provincial health orders.
