Vancouver Police investigating ‘possibly violent’ incident outside Walmart

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police are trying to figure out what happened outside Walmart Sunday night after reports of a potentially violent incident.

Police say “a number of people” reported seeing or hearing the incident between a man and a woman, who were apparently standing near a black Dodge Challenger shortly after 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the store on Grandview Highway near Boundary Road.

Nearby officers went to the parking lot after someone called 9-1-1, but the vehicle was gone before they arrived.

“We don’t know exactly what happened, but we believe a woman may have been in distress and we urgently need to find out more,” Sgt. Steve Addison said.

None of the witnesses stayed behind to speak to police, and investigators haven’t been able to find the man and woman in question.

“We don’t know the relationship between the two people involved in this incident, whether anyone was injured, or even if there was a crime,” Addison said. “We’d like speak to anyone who saw what happened, or even with the man and woman who were involved so we can better understand what happened.”

Police believe the “primary” witness to the incident is a white man in his 60s with grey hair and a beard. He was driving a grey SUV.

No other descriptions have been released.
