ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) — Five kittens have been reunited with their mama, Mittens, after they were stolen in a break and enter in Abbotsford Tuesday morning.

Sgt. Judy Bird is with the Abbotsford Police Department and says one of the 10-day kittens were dropped off at the SPCA Wednesday morning, while the rest of the cat family was tracked down by a patrol officer thanks to tips from the public.

“There is a significant sense of relief and happiness that they are back as a whole family in less than 24 hours,” she says.

Bird says the kittens are totally healthy, and the family is overwhelmed to have them all back.

“[The kittens are] happy to be back with their mom, and their mom is looking after them.”

According to police, the thief got in the house near Primrose Street and Bevan Avenue through a door the family forgot to lock.

Aside from the kittens, other identifiable items, including passports and an Apple TV were stolen, but some items have since been recovered.

The investigation into the break and enter is still ongoing.

A tall, slim, white man in his 20s wearing a light-coloured hoodie and dark pants was seen on surveillance footage.

Police ask you to call them if you have any information or see new postings for kittens for sale online in the next few days. You can contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
