Vigil planned for North Vancouver stabbing victims

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – There is going to be a drive-through vigil Saturday night to honour the victims of the North Vancouver mass stabbing.

The vigil will take place at Lynn Canyon Park from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The effort is meant to be a show of community strength and support, and will come one week after the attack, which police have described as “disturbing” and “heinous.”

Six people were hurt and one woman was killed in the stabbings within and outside of the Lynn Valley Library on March 26.

A man was arrested shortly after the attack. The accused appeared in court on Thursday via video link.

Yannick Bandaogo, 28, faces a second-degree murder charge. The Quebec man was previously known to police.

A motive for the attack remains unclear.
