VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Thanks to the pandemic, for the second year in a row, you won’t be able to buy your Girl Guide cookies the traditional way.

However, you can still support Girl Guides of Canada BC by purchasing cookies at London Drugs or online.

The Guides hope to sell 120,000 boxes and raise more than $600,000 in their biggest fundraiser.

“Girl Guides teach adaptability and preparedness to handle unexpected situations with a sense of confidence and self-assuredness. These are the same principles that have been critically important for all of us over the last year,” Clint Mahlman, London Drugs President and Chief Operating Officer says in a statement. “Whether you have close ties to the Girl Guides in your own family or not, by purchasing a box of cookies, you are helping build resiliency and future leaders in your community.”

All money raised supports programs that empower girls and young women in B.C.

“Now more than ever, we need funding to keep girls connected with supportive peers and caring adult role models who mentor them during these unusual times,” Diamond Isinger with the Girl Guides B.C. division says.
