Child, woman seriously hurt in New Westminster crash

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – A five-year-old and a woman have been taken to the hospital after a serious crash in New Westminster Sunday night.
Both were seriously hurt when the vehicle they were passengers in crashed into an unoccupied parked van along Quayside Drive around 11 p.m.
Police say the male driver left the scene but was arrested nearby.

“Investigators have spoken with some witnesses and are asking anyone else who may have witnessed this collision and haven’t spoken yet to investigators to come forward,” said Sgt. Sanjay Kumar.
It’s unclear at this time if the man is still in custody or what condition the child and woman are in.
