Three puppies stolen from South Surrey home

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — A trio of adorable puppies have been stolen in a break and enter that hit a home in South Surrey this weekend.

Cpl. Joanie Sidhu with Surrey RCMP says the family arrived at their house in on 8 Avenue near 176 Street on Saturday to discover that someone had broken in, and their three Lilac American Bulldog puppies were gone.

Sidhu says the family is extremely worried about this.

“Our animals, our pets are parts of our families,” Sidhu said. “The family is concerned, and they are hoping we are able to recover them, and we are doing everything we can.”

She can’t say if thefts of animals has been on the rise in the city lately, but says it’s clear that more people are interested in owning pets during the pandemic, and that may be a factor here.

“Since the start of the pandemic, a lot of people are staying indoors, and they’re looking for a hobby or companion through a pet,” she said. “I do think it’s possible that these people stole the animals just so they could sell them and get a profit, understanding how much of a demand there is right now.”

If you have any information about this break and enter or the whereabouts of the pups, you’re asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
