CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) – A man is dead and a woman has life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Chilliwack Thursday morning.
Chilliwack RCMP Sgt. Krista Vrolyk says officers were called to a home around Watson Rd. and Cambridge St. at about 8:30 a.m. after someone reported hearing gunshots.
“Officers arrived at scene, where they located a woman suffering life-threatening injuries consistent with a shooting and a man who had succumbed to his injuries,” she said.

A nearby school was put on a hold-and-secure, but Vrolyk says students were never in danger.
“We were looking to land the air ambulance in the fields of the school, and obviously, we needed to ensure that there was lots of room for that. In a situation where we have somebody with life-threatening injuries, every second matters,” she said.
The man and woman at the home knew each other, but are not known to police.
Mounties say there is no safety risk to the public and investigators are not looking for any other suspects.
