All B.C. adults to be able to register for COVID-19 vaccine by Friday

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – All adults in British Columbian will be able to register for a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the work week, after the province released a new schedule over the weekend.

Starting Monday, people over the age of 40 can register, while 35 and up can on Tuesday. On Wednesday, people 30 and older can register, while on Thursday that drops to anyone 25 and up. By Friday, anyone over 18 will be able to register for their vaccine.

You can register on the provincial government website.

Once registered, people will be notified by the health ministry about booking a vaccine appointment when it is their age group’s turn. Dix didn’t outline how soon those who register will actually be able to book an appointment to get their shot.

Appointment booking is currently open for Indigenous people age 18 and up, other British Columbians age 63 and older, people deemed clinically extremely vulnerable, and anyone living or working in Whistler.

British Columbians aged 55 and older can still get the the AstraZeneca shot at pharmacies. The Ontario government has adjusted the age limit for those eligible for the AstraZeneca vaccine, dropping it from 55 and up to anyone 40 years and older.

It’s unclear if B.C. will do the same after concerns of possible links to blood clots in younger people. The vaccine has been approved by Health Canada for anyone 18 and up, and it’s up to provinces to set age restrictions.
