Grieving family of Trina Hunt offering support to missing Chilliwack mom Shaelene Bell

CHILLIWACK (NEWS 1130) — The family of Trina Hunt is sharing their heartbreak this Mother’s Day but also offering support to Shaelene Bell’s family, a young mom from Chilliwack who has been missing since January.

On Facebook, the family wrote that Hunt’s mother had been sent flowers from Shaelene’s mother offering thanks for the family’s support in the search for Shailene.

“These two mothers connected, cried and reveled at the unfairness in this world but also took comfort in knowing they had each other’s experiences to lean on,” the post reads.

The two mothers spoke over the phone and shared a “forever bond” in understanding the fear and anguish that comes with their daughters’ cases.

According to Hunt’s family, more than $5,700 have been raised in honour of Hunt donated to help Shaelene’s family and her two young sons.

Hunt was reported missing by her husband on Jan. 18. Earlier this month, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) confirmed that her body was found on March 29 in Hope — ending a high-profile community search and prompting a homicide investigation.

No arrests have been made yet.

On Jan. 30, Bell 23, was last seen leaving her apartment and two days later, her car was found in a semi-rural area on Ballam Road near the Fraser River, with her cell phone and other belongings inside.

Bell is described as 5’2” tall, weighs around 95 pounds, and has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Bell is urged to call Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
