Saturday is Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s “Day of Music”

VANCOUVER (CityNews) – Saturday, May 15 is the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s Day of Music, where you can enjoy free performances all day from musicians across B.C.
According to the event website, “Day of Music was launched by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in 2019 as part of its centennial celebrations. More than 100 ensembles and musicians came together with over 14,000 audience members for a free celebration of music that day.”
Of course, when the pandemic hit, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra had to pivot many of its events online, and thus, the live stream version of Day of Music was born, and became available to viewers around the globe.

This year, over 100 musicians and ensembles are taking part in the live-streamed event, “including choirs, orchestras, individuals and bands, from every corner of the province.”
The event itself has somewhat of a ‘choose your own adventure style, according to the site: “You can navigate to specific performances on the page or tune into our hosted live stream to meet the people and stories behind the music.”
The event starts at 10 in the morning, and you can join anytime throughout the whole day of festivities.
