Rogers pitches in $25,000 for Vancouver Mayor’s Food Bank Challenge

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Just in time to mark the halfway point in the first-ever Mayor’s Food Bank Challenge in Vancouver, Rogers Communications has stepped up with a solid donation.

The parent company of this station is putting up $25,000 toward the campaign’s $500,000 goal.

“On behalf of our entire Rogers team, I’d like to thank the Greater Vancouver Food Bank for their work supporting the most vulnerable in our communities here in Vancouver and B.C.,” said Rick Sellers, President of B.C. Region, Rogers Communications. “These are values we share, so when we learned about the Mayor’s funding challenge, we knew we wanted to play a role.”

Mayor Kennedy Stewart says he was “blown away” by the donation.

“Rogers has always been a pillar in our community, but to see them step up like this — and encourage others to do the same — is such an inspiring way to help our neighbours,” Stewart said.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank’s Mayor’s Challenge runs for the month of May in Vancouver, the City and District of North Vancouver, Burnaby, and New Westminster.

If you’d like to donate, you can do so online.
