BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — Police in Burnaby are looking for a man who allegedly punched and threatened to kill workers at a store after being asked why he was not wearing a mask.

According to the Burnaby RCMP, the man walked into a store on 1st Avenue just east of Boundary Road on May 8 around 12:30 p.m. The name of the store has not been released.

After a worker questioned why the man’s face was not covered, police say that worker was assaulted.

“The suspect attacked the employee and continued punching him in the head and back when he fell to the ground,” says a statement from Burnaby RCMP.

“When another employee interrupted the assault, the suspect threatened to kill the employee with a knife. Before leaving, the suspect grabbed a pair of bolt cutters and smashed the front window of the business.”

Then, police say the man charged at an employee before driving away.

Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect, hoping someone may recognize him.

He is described as a white man with a blond buzzcut, wearing a dark grey hoodie, light jeans, and sneakers.

Anyone who thinks they can identify the man is being asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
