Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria in for Father’s Day heatwave

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria are in for a mini heatwave this weekend.

A special weather statement from Environment Canada says daytime temperatures will peak around the low-30s on Father’s Day and on Monday before all that hot air makes its way into the Interior on Tuesday.

The statement covers most of the Fraser Valley and the Sunshine Coast as well.

However hot it ends up getting, it won’t even compare to what parts of the western United States have been dealing with for the past week.

A prolonged heatwave has pushed daytime highs past 40 degrees Celcius in many areas.

Friday’s daytime low in Phoenix, Arizona was 33 degrees.

Las Vegas hit a daytime high over 46 degrees this past week, and temperature records have been falling from California to Montana.
