Missing Surrey man’s sister renews calls for help finding him on Father’s Day

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — The sister of missing Surrey man Bernard Grempel is pleading with the public to come forward with any information on her brother’s whereabouts.

Ettie Shurack is renewing calls to help find her brother after he was last seen leaving 22nd Street SkyTrain Station in New Westminster on May 14, boarding the 340 bus towards North Delta and Strawberry Hills.

“He’s a really special individual, and I feel like the world is suffering without him actively present and doing everything that he does — just so naturally and effortlessly,” she says.

Community led searches have been underway since Grempel went missing, including one happening Saturday and Sunday near the Surrey Central SkyTrain Station.

“On our Father’s Day, I ask the public to please help a father desperately searching for his missing son, and to help a brother-in-law, actively working 24-7 to find his missing brother,” Shurack says.

In a statement released by Shurack, she says that the family is up day and night searching for Grempel.

“So far, we have spoken with four witnesses who we met on the bus, who have given us the most credible leads we have heard thus far about my brother,” it reads.

The family has decided to double the reward and is offering $20,000 for information that leads to finding Bernard.

“Please do it in honor of a young man who will one day be an incredible father. There are a variety of ways the public can help. We ask that everyone who has information to please contact us and we will execute top discretion in our communications,” she says.

“We thank everyone for their efforts thus far and their continued efforts.”

Information about the search can be found on the family run Facebook group. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
