Fraser Health vaccine campaign targets young people at recreation sites

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Young people heading to the skate park later this week are being invited the “mosey on over” to the vaccination clinics which are attached to recreation centers in the Fraser Health region.

Fraser Health tells NEWS 1130, their goal is to reduce barriers and ensure everyone eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine can be immunized.

“This is just part of our overall strategy to hit as many different locations and also target the younger people to make sure that they get vaccinated and keep our community safe,” a spokesperson says.

Walk-in clinics for people 12-years-old and up, will be found at the Chuck Bailey, Guildford, and Cloverdale recreation centres in Surrey and the South Surrey Recreation Centre.

Construction workers can also get their vaccines at temporary walk-in clinics at Abbotsford Ag Rec and the Christine Sinclair Community Centre in Burnaby.

All they need to do is show up with their hard hat, site access card, or other construction ID to receive their first dose.

The Fraser Health region has seen the most COVID-19 cases of any health region in the province throughout the pandemic.
