Possible child luring attempt in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Police in Abbotsford are looking for two men who may have tried to lure children into a car over the weekend.

Police say three kids were playing in an area near the Abbotsford School of Integrated Arts on Lower Sumas Mountain Road at around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when two men approached the children and started talking to them.

“One of the males said he was a professional hockey player and knew the children’s mother. During the conversation, one male invited the children to get into his car to drive to his house, where there would be other children to play with,” Sgt. Judy Bird said in a statement.

Police say the eldest child became uncomfortable, rounded up her siblings, and ran home to tell their parents what happened.

One of the men is described to be in his 30s, standing about 5’9″, with a medium build. He’s believed to be white with short, brown hair with three lines (similar to the stripes in the Adidas brand) shaved into both sides of his head. He was wearing a grey hoodie, navy jogging pants, black runners, and was carrying two hockey sticks.

He is believed to be associated with an older-style small, white, four-door sedan.

The other man had short dark hair and a goatee. He’s believed to be South Asian, but no estimated age has been provided by police. He was wearing a black t-shirt, white shorts, black flip flops, and had a tattoo on his upper right arm.

This second person is believed to be linked to a small, black, four-door sedan with tinted back windows.

If you have video footage from the area around that time or any other information, you are asked to call the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
