SICAMOUS (NEWS 1130) — The BC SPCA and Sicamous RCMP are investigating a case of animal cruelty after a dog was intentionally drowned in Shuswap Lake.

According to the RCMP, the large breed dog was found last Thursday near the shore and tied to an anchoring device, preventing the dog from reaching the shore or touching the bottom.

The SPCA has seized the remains, and an investigation is ongoing.

Police say it’s a disturbing discovery as the dog was intentionally made to suffer by drowning.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the BC SPCA or the Sicamous RCMP at 250-836-2878.
