Trina Hunt’s family marks 6 months since Port Moody woman last seen

PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – Nearly six months after Trina Hunt was first reported missing in Port Moody, her family is sharing their thanks to the public for the outpouring of support.

“We are so grateful for all the love and the support,” the opening message of a new video posted online reads. “You have all made this journey a little lighter. Although our search for Trina is over, our quest for answers, and for justice, is not.”

The video shows volunteers and search crews trying to find any clues as to how the 48-year-old was found dead in Hope.

It thanks the volunteers who organized searches and got the word out by putting up posters.

“We knew in our hearts that Trina was likely the victim of foul play. We had to do something, so we searched. Searching filled our souls. Being embraced by the forest and the kindness of friends and strangers alike truly kept us afloat,” the video says.

“Together we travelled 2,000 kilometres for Trina — this is the distance from Port Moody to Los Angeles. We climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest six times, all for Trina.”

It notes there was only one area left on their map to search, adding “Trina left us with one last thing to do, and that is to bring justice for Trina.”

The Port Moody woman’s remains were found in Hope on March 29, months after she was reported missing, on Jan. 18. The discovery prompted the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team to step in, and put an end to the high-profile search for her.

“This has touched a lot of people,” IHIT Sgt. Frank Jang said on May 5. “Homicide investigations touch all of us, but this one in particular seems to really touch the heartstrings of a lot of people. A lot of people who didn’t know Trina … want to know what happened. People want justice for her, for her family.”

Few details have been provided since. In early June, investigators were seen at Hunt’s family home, with IHIT saying it was executing search warrants at “two residences.” The other search was being done at a home in Mission, which reportedly belongs to her husband’s family.

Hunt’s family has announced a $50,000 reward for any new information that leads to charges or arrests in connection with her death.
