Buy a burger, help support B.C. wildfire relief efforts

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Next week on July 29, some B.C. based restaurants will be holding a fundraising day to support wildfire relief efforts.

Taking place at all White Spot and Triple O’s restaurants throughout B.C., including BC Ferries offering White Spot, $2 will be donated from the sale of every burger purchased that day.

White Spot CEO Warren Erhart says it follows similar fundraisers for Fort McMurray in 2016 and for the B.C. wildfire season of 2017, which raised $60,000.

“A number of our franchise operators and managers have been asking is there anything that we can do again this year, and we made a few calls and without exception, every one of our full service restaurants, and our Triple O’s locations were there for it.”

Erhart says the money raised will go a long way.

“The federal and provincial governments are doing a match at the same time, so really the $2 become $6 pretty quick, and hopefully we raise a lot of money for this, a very important effort that’s going on throughout the province.”

The restaurants do have a fundraising amount in mind, Erhardt says.

“That they raise $50,000. If they could do that, that would be our hope, as far as that target goes. But I mean everything we raise, obviously would be great and beneficial to help folks.”
