CRANBROOK (NEWS 1130) — Five people have been transferred to hospital with apparent stab wounds, according to Mounties after a fight between two motorcycle gangs in Cranbrook.
RCMP say the fight broke out around 7 p.m. at a local gas station on Cranbrook street north.
When front line officers got there, there were multiple people fighting– determined to be rival motorcycle gangs from Alberta.
The hospital was placed under lockdown for a while to prevent further violence between the gangs as five people were treated in hospital for non-life-threatening stab wounds.
“Officers stationed in the parking lot were able to prevent further violence between members of both gangs who had attended the hospital, but were refused entry,” a statement from police reads.
Everyone was released from hospital Friday night, and one group was escorted by police out of town.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
Cranbrook police do not believe this was related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
