COVID vaccinations add a new aspect to dating

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — As we slowly return to a more seemingly normal life, it means we can finally arrange those first dates. However, a new question singles will ask potential partners is, “are you vaccinated?”

Susan Seminew is a Vancouver matchmaker at the Divine Intervention and has been in the love biz for about a decade and a half. She says that asking “what is your comfort level?” is an easy way to address the COVID, which is an important conversation.

“You have to be safe, she says. “My word of advice is always talk to the other person and make sure that you’re on the same page with COVID.”

Seminew adds it’s best to be direct and open about the conversation so you can address the safety concerns sooner rather than later.

“People are taking a longer time to get to know each other,” she tells NEWS 1130. “So with the slower romantic [approach to] get to know someone — the vaccine can be a make it or break it.”

But, if you’re not comfortable with meeting someone in person right away, Seminew says to stick with COVID safe interactions like facetime or a phone call.
