IHIT identifies remains of man with gang ties found in burned-out pickup truck in Langley

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Homicide investigators have identified the remains of a man found in a burned-out pickup truck in Langley nearly a week ago, and are asking the public for help with its investigation.

The remains of Christopher Roy from Vancouver were found inside the red Ford F150, which was on fire near 82 Avenue and 197 Street on July 21, around 7 p.m. Roy, 36, was known to police, had a criminal record, and was connected to the current Lower Mainland gang conflict.

This is believed to be a targeted incident, but police say Roy and the truck have no connection to the area where they were found.

Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) investigators are still interested in the truck because it had body-kit modifications and may have stood out, so they hope anyone who saw it before the fire comes forward with information.

“There are associates of Mr. Roy who knew of his activities prior to his death,” Sgt. David Lee said in a statement from IHIT. “We ask for those people to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448), or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
