Man violently trashes Richmond McDonald’s over service dissatisfaction

A man has been arrested after a customer allegedly damaged property inside a McDonald's in Richmond's Ironwood plaza because he was unhappy with the speed of service. Video of the incident was uploaded to social media.

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – A man is in jail after a violent incident at a Richmond McDonald’s restaurant that apparently stemmed from a long wait for food.

The Tuesday incident in the Ironwood Plaza by Steveston Highway and No. 5 Road was captured on video and shared online.

“Look at how fast the cars are going through and look how long I’m waiting,” he is heard telling restaurant employees. “You can suck my **** and then we’ll talk later.”

After workers told the man in the video they were calling the police, he is seen smashing the barrier at the counter, knocking over restaurant equipment, and throwing a garbage can at the employees.

The man goes on to knock over a display cabinet and another barrier. He calls the worker names, swears repeatedly, and then leaves the restaurant.

Richmond RCMP say the suspect is a 30-year-old man from Delta, who fought with officers when they were arresting him.

Mounties are not commenting on the video, but say two restaurant workers, two officers, and the suspect were hurt, though their injuries are minor.

The suspect remains in custody and awaits a bail hearing. RCMP say he could be charged with Mischief, Assault, and Assault of a Peace Officer.
