Air quality advisory for Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley issued

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — An air quality advisory has been issued for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley region Sunday afternoon.

High concentrations of fine particulate matter are expected to stick around for a couple of days.

The smoke from wildfires burning in the Interior and Washington has also reached the region, “contributing to elevated fine particulate matter concentrations and hazy skies.”

Metro Vancouver says winds are in the forecast for Tuesday which may clear the smoke.

People with chronic illnesses are advised to abstain from outdoor physical activity during this time.
