Ironman race competitor drowns in Harmony Lake: Cochrane RCMP

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Ironman race volunteers say a 47-year-old man has died Sunday morning after he drowned in a lake near Rocky View County.

Around 8 a.m. Cochrane RCMP received a tip that someone was drowning at Harmony Lake.

After Ironman race volunteers found the Ontario man, they pulled him out of the water, began CPR, and called EMS.

Despite their efforts, the victim died on the scene.

According to Mounties, the man was an Ironman race competitor.

A medical examiner has been contacted by RCMP, who will be assisting in determining a cause.

The next of kin has been notified.
