Metro Vancouver heat warnings come to an end

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Heat warnings have now ended for Metro Vancouver after temperatures hit the high 20s Saturday.

It will be a little bit cooler Sunday with temperatures up to 26 degrees, but still much more manageable given the recent string of high temperatures experienced lately.

Heat will still envelop the Southern Interior, however, with Kelowna feeling the heat as well as smoke due to wildfires.

Meantime, officials with Metro Vancouver say an air quality advisory issued for much of Vancouver and the Fraser Valley has been lifted for ground-level ozone.

Cooler temperatures and cloudy conditions have come together to improve air quality.

However, the latest smoke modelling shows parts of metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley could be inundated by smoke for a while later this afternoon.
