Vancouver man dies after assault at Grandview Park

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Vancouver man has died after he was attacked Thursday afternoon at Grandview Park.

Vancouver police say the 60-year-old was assaulted at around 1:30 p.m. at the park, located on Commercial Dr. and Charles St. Gilles Hebert was reportedly knocked unconscious and later died of his injuries in the hospital.

Police have identified the victim as Gilles Hebert.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested, but at this time charges have not been laid.

“Investigators believe a number of people may have been walking or driving by at the time this happened and may have not realized the severity of the assault,” says Const. Tania Visintin. “We need anyone with information to come forward.”
