Elderly man, woman from B.C. identified as pair killed in Alberta crash

CALGARY — A man and woman from B.C. have been identified as the pair killed in a horrific crash along Highway 1, west of Calgary, this week.

The crash happened just west of Morley around 11:30 a.m. when a cube van crossed the grass median and struck a car, resulting in multiple other vehicles, including a semi-truck, to be involved.

That car was occupied by a 75-year-old woman, and a 78-year-old man from Columbia Valley, B.C. who were both declared dead on scene.

The driver of the cube van was operated by a 50-year-old man from Sherwood Park, and was accompanied by a 27-year-old man from Winnipeg.

The driver of the semi-truck was a 55-year-old man from Calgary.

WATCH: Two people were killed and three others were injured following a horrific head-on crash west of Calgary on Wednesday.

EMS spokesman Adam Loria said all three people from the cube van and semi-truck were transported by ambulances to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

RCMP in Cochrane are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
