Richmond’s Knight Street Bridge partially closed due to truck fire

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) — A traffic mess for people trying to take the Knight Street Bridge was caused by a vehicle fire Wednesday.

Video of the scene shows a large fire consuming a truck just after 11:00 a.m. Shortly after, emergency crews responded to the area and traffic was rerouted.

Hours later, heavy delays were still reported for drivers trying to get between Richmond and Vancouver.

Another social media post reads, “Saw the driver get out and run” after the fire began.

As of 1:00 p.m., traffic had reopened to a single lane, but volume was still extremely heavy for the Knight Street Bridge. Delays also remained for the Oak Street Bridge and Queensborough Bridge as many took those as alternate routes.
