Magic of Vancouver Opera soon to be enjoyed in person again

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — You can soon enjoy “a night at the opera” in person again.

The Vancouver Opera is announcing the return of live performances for the 2021-22 season, starting Sept. 18 and 19 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Two days of outdoor performances at the former Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza will be followed by the staging of three operas inside the theatre, starting in December.

The Vancouver Opera 2021–2022 season offers a range of works with an opportunity to integrate contemporary dance and showcase the talented Vancouver Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

“This season will be one of celebration as we look forward to welcoming live audiences back to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. We are thrilled to bring to our audiences the experience of live opera, where magic happens when you bring live theatre and amazing musicians and artists together. This magic can only be experienced in the shared environment of the theatre. Bravo to everyone who has supported us over the past 18 months of creating our art in the digital sphere and supported arts and culture in our community.”

Some of the selected works this coming season include “Cavalleria Rusticana” and the wildly popular “HMS Pinafore,” just to name a few.

As of Oct. 24 people are required to show they are fully vaccinated if they’d like to attend events and performances at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

Masks are also required in all public indoor settings and a touchless/paperless experience will be provided.
